LandMark Enterprise (Sierra Leone)
Sanitary napkin sourcing and brand development for custom feminine hygiene brand
Adikalie, who goes by “Adix”, is an entrepreneur from Sierra Leone, West Africa, and the founder of LandMark Enterprise. The Sparrows co-founder Susan Su met Adix while working on an MIT project to strengthen orthotics & prosthetics care in Sierra Leone. He served as her team’s local liaison as they worked with the Ministry of Health to build a clinic and education center for locally manufactured prosthetic devices. Impressed by Adix’s industriousness and desire to better the lives of his fellow Sierra Leoneans through his business, Susan decided to work with The Sparrows to help Adix source needed products from China to supply the Sierra Leone market.
Sierra Leone is one of the poorest countries in the world, where the lack of supply chain infrastructure make many daily necessities – such as hygiene products – inaccessible to the local population. Working closely with Adix, The Sparrows sourced sanitary napkins at competitive prices to cater to the Sierra Leone market.
Some tasks from this project included:
- Sourcing for sanitary napkin suppliers based on client requirements
- Conducting supplier visits and audits
- Procuring samples to perform initial quality testing
- Obtaining quotations and negotiating prices
- Developing manufacturing contracts
- Assisting client in brand registration and trademarking
- Packaging and container design
- Quality inspection for mass production
- Logistics and shipping to Sierra Leone
After several months, a container with Adix’s products is on-route to Freetown, Sierra Leone!
